Internet Computer & Web3

The sovereignty ladder ends at Level 3 — your own infrastructure. The Internet Computer is the rung beyond it: software that runs fully on-chain, across an independent, decentralised network of node providers governed by the Swiss-based DFINITY foundation. No single cloud, no single landlord, no single jurisdiction.

We believe in this technology, and we're building with it. This is an emerging Solvetus Labs practice: honest, hands-on and grounded — we'll tell you plainly where it's the right tool, and where a Level 2 or 3 European stack still serves you better today.

What we do with the Internet Computer

Advisory first, then build — at the pace the technology and your business actually justify.

Who it's for

  • Organisations that want apps no single provider or government can quietly switch off.
  • Teams needing verifiable, tamper-proof records or trust-minimised identity.
  • Founders building Web3 products who want a grounded, honest technology partner.

How an engagement works

  1. Frame & feasibility

We pressure-test the use case against simpler options and agree whether ICP earns its place.

  2. Prototype

A small, real canister or identity flow you can actually try — not a slide deck.

  3. Build & deploy

We build the app and deploy it on-chain, with the architecture documented.

  4. Run & hand over

We support it and hand over full control — no lock-in to us.

Frequently asked questions

Is this production-ready or experimental?

It's an emerging Solvetus Labs practice. We build real things on the Internet Computer and we're honest that it's a newer part of our work — so we lead with advisory and prototypes, and scale up only where it genuinely earns its place.

How is the Internet Computer different from a normal cloud?

Your app runs as on-chain “canisters” across an independent, decentralised network of node providers governed by the Swiss-based DFINITY foundation — rather than inside one company's datacentre. There's no single landlord to change the terms, raise the rent, or be compelled to hand over control.

Where does this sit on your sovereignty ladder?

Beyond it. The ladder tops out at Level 3 — your own European infrastructure. ICP is a different model again: jurisdiction-less by design. It isn't automatically “better” — it's the right answer for specific needs around censorship-resistance, verifiability and trust-minimised identity.

Do my users need cryptocurrency or tokens?

Not as users. The plumbing uses the network's native resources, but we handle that so your users get an ordinary web experience — often with simpler, passwordless sign-in via Internet Identity.

Should most businesses use this today?

No — and we'll say so. For most, a Level 1–3 European stack is the right call. ICP is for the specific cases where decentralisation, verifiability or censorship-resistance are real requirements, and we'll only recommend it when it beats the simpler option.
